NAMI New York City Metro: Over 40 Support & Social Groups, Both Family Members and People Living with Mental Illness Are Sure to Find a Group That Fits.
Contact our Helpline at 212-684-3264 or helpline@naminyc.org and we’ll connect you to our programs!
You’ll get support, you’ll share coping strategies, and you’ll learn practical information. All groups are led by a trained volunteer with lived experience and are a safe and judgment-free environment of mutual respect. Please be mindful to not give direct advice. We encourage participants to use “I” statements and speak from their own experiences.
Our support groups are meeting both online and in person.
“Our support groups are powerful because they show, you are not alone. And they’re not led by a mental health professional. Peer support values lived experience. Leaders are facilitators, not professional experts. Everyone is an expert in the room…an expert on themselves.” – Kinsey McManus, former Services Director
If you are currently covered under one of our member welfare funds and are thinking about working with a mental health therapist, our staff would be happy to help you find an individual in-network mental health provider for support. Give us a call at 800-433-4TCS (4827) to start the process.
