What you can do for a loved one in crisis

If you have a friend or loved one who is experiencing a mental health emergency, do not leave them alone. Make an effort to have the person get assistance immediately from an emergency room, mental health professional, or physician. It is critical to take seriously their comments about suicide or wishing to die. Even if you do not believe that the person will actually harm themselves, the person in distress will benefit from your support and encouragement that they seek treatment.
